RCARA Laboratory News
RCARA is currently engaged in studying the wild flowers indigenous to central Texas that may be suitable for making plant color paints. We have discovered several wild plant species for making the plant color paints growing in our area. These include the Pink Evening Primrose which gives a lovely light lemon yellow and the Golden Rod which gives a warm golden yellow.
Our research into making plant color paints began several years ago, but due to a lack of suitable lab space and sufficient time, this project was delayed until now. Above are pictures of the Coreopsis flower and its processing into a plant color from our previous lab work in 2016. It gives yellow orange to orange color.
Thanks to a grant (2024-2025) from the Rudolf Steiner Charitable Trust we will be renovating our backyard shed and slowly turning it into a new plant colors laboratory.
We hope to begin our work again on this most important impulse from Rudolf Steiner in the Spring of 2025
