THE COLOR OF TREES
Rudolf Steiner challenges us to enter into a living feeling for the color world. In the first three lectures COLOUR, he asks us to sink into the world of color to discover how form can arise from color. “Form out of Color” is the pivotal idea for the renewed impulse in painting and for a new painting training. These two trees are examples of a yellow tree and a blue tree. A certain color mood is clearly visible.
Lisalotte Himmelsbach is the creator of the Planet Tree paintings. This article contains some of her paintings and seeks to explain her valuable work. It includes painting indications from Rudolf Steiner and the works of different students who range in age from eight years to eighty.
Ms. Himmelsbach studied painting for many years with Gerard Wagner in the Painting School at the Goetheanum. Her training included work with the nine Nature Mood Exercises given by Rudolf Steiner.
The paintings developed in this article follow her color research.
